You will be hard pressed to find more than a handfull of  Maltese Cafe's anywhere on the planet. Sydney is blessed to have one of the very few in existence, one which also happens to be the very first ever established in Australia. Here, you can try  our hand made crisp, flaky pastizzi filled with cheese & spinach, pure  ricotta cheese, mushy peas, chicken and mushroom, chili con carne, even blueberry and sweetened ricotta cheese and be instantly  transported to the heart of Malta. 

A platter of mixed pastizzi for six people can cost as little as $32, for twelve people $64. Compare that with upwards of $50 per person in some fancy restaurant and you can see why Sydney siders fill up on crispy, flavoursome pastizzi instead.

The cafe was first opened in 1952, but the story actually began in the 1930,s where in a very similar looking shop in Malta, the first generation of our family's pastizzi makers plied their trade. Today, the desendants of that generation still make our cafe pastizzi in exactly the same way they did all those years ago, by hand.

At the Original Maltese Cafe, it is all about the Pastizzi. We have the variety to suit every taste,. You can eat in, take away, or even allow us to cater for your function. The cafe is fully licensed and is family oriented. We do without the bells and whistles most other establishments use to draw you in. Our only claim is that your dining experience will be an enjoyable care free one that wont put a huge hole in your pocket.
